Summer Clerk 2025/2026
Holland Beckett runs a summer clerk programme every year from November to February in our Tauranga and Rotorua offices. This is a great opportunity for students in their penultimate year of study, to work in one of Bay of Plenty’s top law firms alongside some of the Bays’ best solicitors. We are seeking a talented and driven lawyer with 3-5 years’ experience to join our leading litigation team.

We are seeking a talented and driven lawyer with 3-5 years’ experience to join our leading litigation team. 
About the Role 
This opportunity is somewhat unique due to the level of quality Court time, working on some of the most exciting cases. For this reason, we are seeking applicants who consider themselves to be rising stars in the profession. In return, we are offering a package that will be market leading. 
You would be part of an expert litigation practice, with over 20 contentious litigators who are driven but team focused. The role would involve a diverse range of litigation work, such as civil, commercial, criminal, public law/regulatory, sport, trust, estates, and insolvency disputes. Within this wide range of challenging work, we litigate in all court and tribunal levels, as well as mediated and arbitral processes. 
You will gain both client facing and court experience for top tier clients. There would also be the opportunity to travel around New Zealand, as we litigate around the country.  As part of a progressive and growing firm, the successful candidate would receive ongoing training and professional development, with the opportunity to progress within the firm.  
What we are looking for 
Ideally, candidates would have: 
  • Strong academic record 
  • 3 to 5 years PQE civil, commercial, or regulatory litigation experience

Commercial/Property Legal Executive

We are seeking a Legal Executive to join our busy Property/Commercial team in Tauranga.

About the Role:

You will work within an energetic and collegial team managed by a Partner across a range of work including:

  • Development funding;
  • Developments – land acquisition, due diligence, structuring and pre-sale agreements;
  • Commercial property – acting for landlords/property owners – acquisitions, disposals, structuring and leasing;
  • Residential and commercial conveyancing;
  • Subdivisions – both residential and commercial; and
  • Some asset protection.

The team comprises a mix of Lawyers, Legal Executives and Support Staff at differing stages of their careers.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Legal Executive with 1-3 years’ experience;
  • Has knowledge of concepts and structures around how financing, mortgages and securities work;
  • Property/conveyancing experience;
  • Strong client service orientation and a desire to add real value to every client interaction;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Excellent communication, written, analytical and transaction management skills; and
  • Down to earth and collaborative interpersonal style (be a team player).
