Ken Hawkes is a Partner in Holland Beckett’s corporate and finance team.

Ken has over 30 years of experience in corporate finance and venture capital, having worked in the international markets for more than 25 years.

Prior to joining Holland Beckett, Ken was a partner of an international law firm, where he was the head of energy and project finance for South East Asia and based in Singapore. While in Asia, Ken advised a range of clients on some of the largest financings and energy projects in the region – regularly representing governments, project developers, lenders and equipment suppliers. Ken is qualified as an English law solicitor as well as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand.

Ken has extensive experience in relation to banking and finance as well as corporate finance and M&A. Ken has a particular specialisation in relation to private equity, having advised local private equity fund Oriens Capital since its inception in 2015 on its capital raising and investments.

Ken also has significant experience in the energy sector, having advised on power projects in New Zealand and around the world. He is also a leading international energy lawyer, recently advising on a desalination project in Singapore. Ken has also advised on several wind power and geothermal energy projects, where he has extensive experience in relation to power industry markets, construction contracts and long term off-take arrangements.
