The Westpac Business Excellence Awards were held on Saturday night in Rotorua. The Holland Beckett Law “Innovation Business Award” went to Pipi .
Pipi is a business started by Kristin Ross and Hohepa Tuahine which produces the only 100% Maori language dolls for children. This was a particularly significant award as Rotorua has just become New Zealand’s first bilingual city.
Mr Tuahine gave his acceptance speech in Te Reo and their table then responded with a haka showing the pride they have in their business and culture.
The Pipi Mā dolls are super cool – you can check them out for yourself at https://pipima.co.nz
