Shannon is a Senior Solicitor in our Rotorua Litigation team.

Shannon began his law career clerking in 2017 for a barrister specialising in criminal law in Rotorua. In 2018, he took up a Solicitor role in the litigation team of a local mid-sized law firm, growing his practice to include a range of civil and employment matters. Shannon took his broad experience to Wellington in 2022, and expanded it further to address a wide gambit of public law matters as an Assistant Crown Counsel at the Crown Law Office. He returned to Rotorua mid-2024 to focus on his PhD research on criminal name suppression. He joined Holland Beckett at the end of 2024.

While Shannon’s passion is using his Criminology and Psychology knowledge in criminal law matters, he is a well-rounded generalist who is just as comfortable resolving civil disputes as he is addressing employment concerns or answering questions about administrative law. This familiarity with numerous areas of law comes with equally enviable experience in various dispute resolution forums, ranging from employee conduct investigations and mediation, to District Court trials and High Court appeals.

When not in the office, you may find Shannon at Ethos functional fitness, otherwise he’s probably putting the finishing touches on his 100,000 word thesis.
