Terry Kirkham

Terry works in the land and commercial law areas.  He joined Holland Beckett Law in 2019, and is based in Rotorua and Taupo. Prior to joining Holland Beckett Law he practised in Taupo for 10 years.

Terry’s commercial work includes leasing, business start ups and commercial contracts. He has considerable experience with asset ownership structures, often to bring these into line with changed circumstances, or to simplify those structures. Terry has also acted for a number of Maori owned entities.

Terry has had a career long interest in tax law and is also able to draw on his background experience in litigation, OIA, and immigration.

Recent work includes the negotiation and renewal of a large number of perpetually renewable leases, completing a complex and urgent financing and restructuring of a syndicated dairy farm and providing property and trust advice for clients involved in litigation. Terry has previously managed start ups and restructures in various industries, from retirement villages to seafood processors.

With a father in the RNZAF, Terry’s early life was spent at various air force bases in New Zealand and Fiji. He attended Pompallier College in Whangarei and St Peters College in Epsom.

Terry is a keen Masters swimmer in pool and open water competitions. He maintains his interest in cycling and triathlons as a volunteer for Cycle Challenge and Ironman events. He enjoys skiing and has an interest in classic cars and boats.
